Collingwood's artistic skills, formerly applied to birds, now enabled him to make delicate and detailed botanical drawings, especially of cherries. In the drawings shown here, he names the cherry as an alpine form of  Prunus incisa, but by the time he wrote his book Ornamental Cherries, published in 1948, he is doubtful as to its identity.
