The yellow wagtail’s nest I found near Rye contained young dangerously old – a sudden movement and they would have scattered into the corn. How different they look to their parents, and how much more pipit-like. Upper parts earth brown; eye brow, sides of face pale buffish with dark stripes running through eye; throat warm, creamy buff; a blackish moustachial stripe meets the markings on the side of the lower neck. Down drab, buffish-drab.
